Dr. Geneva Jones Williams, affectionately known as Dr. Geneva, earned her doctorate in education leadership, and master's degree in social work from Wayne State University, and a master's degree from Bryn Mawr. Renowned nationally, she's a visionary leader with a transformative impact in the nonprofit, leadership development and entrepreneurial sectors. Her expertise in strategic planning and nonprofit board development has enabled numerous organizations to thrive.
Starting her illustrious journey as the United Way's first female executive, Dr. Geneva pioneered public-private collaborations, notably merging two United Ways and raising over $100 million for charitable causes. Her contributions have not gone unnoticed; she's been recognized by Crain’s Business as one of Detroit's Most Influential Women And Nonprofit Leaders, cited as a leading businesswoman by the National Association of Women Business Owners, and honored with the Distinguished Warrior Award by the Urban League.
With a legacy of serving on boards under five Michigan governors and five Detroit mayors, Dr. Geneva currently chairs the Governor’s Michigan Women's Commission, championing women's issues across the state.
