Q: What inspired you to pursue pharmacy?
A: Working at an independent pharmacy in Buffalo is what ignited my desire to become a pharmacist! I absolutely loved the opportunity to help our local community and offer recommendations for over-the-counter treatments. It’s been an incredibly rewarding profession for me, knowing that I can make a positive impact on people’s health!
Q: Share some reflections about your years on campus.
A: My time at WSU was a transformative experience filled with personal and academic growth. It was the first time I lived independently, away from my family, and I forged lasting friendships! The pharmacy faculty played a significant role in my journey, going above and beyond. Their dedication and passion inspired me to pursue a career in academia, and I hope to pass on the same inspiration to my students.
Q: In your opinion, what is one of the biggest changes that has occurred in your profession since graduating?
A: One of the significant changes in the pharmacy profession in recent years has been the increasing clinical role of the pharmacist and the moving away from dispensing to automated prescription filling, electronic health records and telepharmacy services. Additionally, we have taken on expanded roles, such as giving immunizations and medication therapy management, contributing more directly to patient care and public health. These changes have reshaped the pharmacy landscape and pharmacists’ role in health care, and I expect it to continue!
