MaryAnne Stewart transitioned into academia in 2016, taking on pivotal roles as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the Medical Laboratory Science Program at Wayne State University. With over 20 years of clinical experience in medical laboratories across Canada and the U.S., Stewart enriches her teaching by bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world practice in both academic and health care settings.
Her scholarly work focuses on the scholarship of collaboration between health science programs, highlighting the importance of interconnectedness and collective solutions through her experiences in collaborative research projects, cross-cultural exchanges and interdisciplinary initiatives. Stewart has also contributed significantly to the development of resource materials for her students in Hematology and Hemostasis.
An active member of several professional organizations, Stewart is involved with the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Educators of the United States of America, Michigan Association for Laboratory Educators, Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science, and Canadian Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario. Her dedication to professional growth and advancing the field of medical laboratory science is evident through her active participation and contributions to these communities.
