Travis Reeder
Molecular Pathology Laboratory Manager, Detroit Medical Center
Travis Reeder serves as Molecular Pathology Laboratory Manager for the Detroit Medical Center. Prior to that, he served as the Vice President of Laboratory Operations and R&D at Strata Oncology in Ann Arbor, driving laboratory operational efficiency and assay innovation in the precision oncology space. Before his leadership role at Strata, Travis led an assay development and operationalization team at Progenity, a maternal health commercial laboratory that focused on carrier screening and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). He is a mindful laboratory leader who is passionate about both continuous learning and driving advancements at the intersection of biotechnology and precision medicine.
Travis received his BS in Medical Laboratory Science from Wayne State University in 2005 and immediately began working as a medical technologist at Michigan Medicine, where he became a leader early in his career. In his nearly 20 years in the molecular biology space, he has driven clinical laboratory advancement and new test development and validation across industry and at local academic health centers such as Michigan Medicine and the Detroit Medical Center. He has consistently remained at the forefront of medical laboratory industry advancement, as evidenced by his expertise in next generation sequencing (NGS), and specifically in both germline and somatic liquid biopsy.
Since his graduation, Travis has remained actively involved at Wayne State, having both taught various laboratory courses in the Medical Laboratory Science program as well as serving on the Medical Laboratory Science Program Advisory Board since 2013.
