AMCP hosts webinar on Blue Cross Blue Shield MTM program featuring WSU Applebaum alum Dr. Jena Yaldo on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
This Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m., the Wayne State chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is holding an informational webinar focused on career opportunities in managed care.

"It's important for students interested in managed care to attend this seminar in order to learn about a different path within the field," said Brooke Penny, AMCP professional education chairperson. "Managed care is a very diverse branch of pharmacy that offers so many opportunities that will impact a patient's care, and this one in particular allows for direct patient interaction through comprehensive medication reviews."
AMCP President Joseph Javier added, "AMCP encourages all students to attend this evening webinar and learn more about managed care. We are lucky to have an alumna of WSU Applebaum present at this event. Dr. Yaldo will be talking about various aspects of this field of pharmacy and possible P2 internship opportunities."
Aspects of the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) range from reviewing Medicaid and Medicare contracting and patient counseling in Quality Rating Systems (QRS) to conducting pharmacy network survey development as well as field auditing and data analysis.
"I had a wonderful opportunity to work with Dr. Yaldo and the MTM program last summer," Penny added. "At Blue Cross Blue Shield, I learned a lot not only about Medicare and formularies but also about how to talk with patients about their medications."
The Feb. 10 AMCP webinar will be held over Zoom at 7 p.m.
