Assistant Professor Receives Pharmacy Preceptor Award

Susan LeRoque Davis, an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS), Wayne State University (WSU), is the 2008 recipient of the Pharmacy Residency Excellence - New Preceptor Award from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

The award honors excellence and leadership in the training and mentoring of pharmacy residents. She received the award during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, Dec. 7- 11 in Orlando, FL.

In addition to her preceptor responsibilities at the college, Davis is an infectious disease pharmacy specialist at the Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. She completed a post doctorate fellow in infectious disease outcomes at the EACPHS Anti-infective Research Laboratory in 2005 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2002 from the College of Pharmacy, University of Michigan.

Her memberships include the American College of Clinical Pharmacy -- Infectious Diseases PRN Group, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Society for Microbiology, Infectious Disease Society of America, Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, and the Southeastern Michigan Society of Healthy-System Pharmacists.

Davis's research interests include epidemiology of bacterial infections, clinical and economic im0lation of an antimicrobial resistance, and optimizing patient outcomes and antimicrobial exposure.
