The DEW What You SAY 5K is back for the 5th year running, and its Fundraising and Equipment Committee is looking to form an interprofessional team to help plan it and bring it together. All proceeds benefit the interprofessional DEW (Diabetes Education and Wellness) Clinic, which provides free education and supplies for diabetics, and the SAY Detroit PT Clinic, which provides free physical therapy services to uninsured and underinsured.

The Halloween-themed race takes place Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, on Wayne State's main campus, with volunteers needed from 6 a.m. to noon. The committee is are looking for volunteers who are willing to participate in small and large capacities throughout the year as well as on race day. If you are interested in learning more, please open and fill out the online interest form. You will be asked to choose your sub-committee interests.

Course and parking maps:

Maps out the run course

Maps out parking

In charge of placing runner directors on the course

Runner director is a volunteer option

In charge of signage to mark the run and walk courses

Registration:

In charge of online-sign-ups

In charge of on-campus sign-ups and runner recruitment

In charge of day of sign-ups

In charge of day of sign-in, waiver forms and bibs

Timers:

In charge of determining how we do timing, may become part of the registration committee if we use a timing/registration company for online sign-ups

Costume Contest:

In charge of costume categories

In charge of judging

In charge of trophies

In charge of top finisher medals

Music & speaker representative:

In charge of finding DJ or music equipment and playlist

Materials and design:

Determines logo

Order shirts

Order items for goodie bags

In charge of assembling and distributing goodie bags and t-shirts at the event

Designs promotional flyer

Raffle:

In charge of gathering items and assembling raffle baskets

In charge of bringing raffle baskets the day of the event

In charge of selling raffle tickets at the event

Will also run the cider/donut table at the event

Decor:

In charge of purchasing/acquiring decorations

In charge of decorating on event day

Photography and Videography:

Take photos of the event

Edit photos and prepare for upload onto website

Take video of the event

Make run video for promotion/recap

Help to promote the run in any way possible!
