Director of S.A.Y. Detroit to Speak at Martin Barr Lecture

The medical director of S.A.Y. Detroit Family Health Clinic will be the guest speaker for the Martin Barr Lecture on Oct. 21. Peggy Richardson, M.D. will speak on "Giving as a Medical Professional."

A reception in the Commons area of the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wayne State University (WSU), will be held at 5 p.m., followed by Dr. Richardson's lecture at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The S.A. Y. Detroit Family Health Clinic is a free clinic for uninsured women and children in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Opened in 2008, the clinic resulted from a partnership between author/columnist Mitch Albom and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, where Dr. Richard also serves as medical director.

Dr. Richardson is a graduate of WSU's School of Medicine, completing residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. She practiced emergency medicine before entering private practice in 1984. Today, her practice is located in the S.A.Y. Detroit Family Clinic building in Highland Park, MI. She provides medical care for senior citizens in the community three days a week and is on the Medical Advisory Board for First Fitness International, based in Dallas, TX.
