First- and second-year PharmD students encouraged to join learning community
All P1 and P2 Doctor of Pharmacy students are invited to join the Student Pharmacist Learning Community, offered by the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to optimize student success during the first two years of their professional program.
The learning community is operated by P3 PharmD students who are chosen for their academic, professional and leadership abilities. This year’s peer mentors (pictured here) are Rehab Bondok, Steph Bozynski and Alexis Brecht. The coordinators are Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice Victoria Tutag Lehr and Pharmacy Division Education Specialist Sarah Kosel Agnihotri.
For fall 2024 semester, peer mentors will hold in-person office hours weekly. Individual mentor weekly schedules with room assignments have been sent to each student's WSU email account and posted on the Learning Community Canvas site.
Fall semester in-person peer mentor sessions
Tuesday: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Rehab Bondok (room 1366)
Thursday: 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. – Alexis Brecht (room 1360)
Friday: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Steph Bozynski (room 1360)
Learning community mentors are trained by the Pharmacy Division’s educational specialists. The high-achieving P3 students are committed to serve as peer resources about the program and the pharmacy profession, including assisting P1s and P2s with study skills, strategies for selecting professional organizations and leadership experiences, and general information on balancing the demands of the program with their personal and social lives.
The learning community also hosts extra review sessions in collaboration with Rho Chi prior to exams. The learning community program has been in operation since 2009 and evolves over time to best meet students’ needs. Support is provided by the WSU Applebaum Department of Pharmacy Practice, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Dean’s Office.
For more information, write to a peer mentor — Rehab Bondok, Steph Bozynski or Alexis Brecht — or contact Dr. Victoria Tutag Lehr or Sarah Kosel Agnihotri.
