Health Care Sciences Teaching Award nominations due Dec. 16
The WSU Applebaum Department of Health Care Sciences (HCS) will recognize one full-time faculty member each winter semester for excellence in teaching. A faculty member receiving a teaching award will receive a certificate for this honor, will be recognized at a college assembly meeting, and may include the award for consideration in selective salary and promotion applications. Faculty receiving this award may also receive up to $1,000 distributed into the program's R&D fund to be used toward research or professional development based on funding availability.
Health Care Sciences programs include Nurse Anesthesia, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Radiation Therapy Technology and Radiologic Technology.
Faculty eligible for the Department of Health Care Sciences teaching award program are those faculty (a) holding appointments of 0.5 or greater, and (b) holding the ranks of professor, associate professor, or assistant professor. AAUP-represented and non-represented faculty are eligible for the award.
We would like to encourage anyone familiar with a faculty member's teaching (including students) to consider nominating an instructor who demonstrates any of the following qualities:
- High-quality instruction
- Positive and lasting influence on students
- Innovation in teaching methods
- Scholarship in education
- Contribution to the holistic education of students
- Local or national impact on the education aspects of teaching
Nominating is simple! Just fill out this four-question survey to tell us about the instructor.
Nominated faculty will be notified and, if they choose to accept the nomination, will be required to submit a teaching review packet.
Please consider nominating today! The deadline for nominations is Friday, Dec. 16.
