Health Sciences Lecture Series Focuses on Trauma Triggers, Symptoms, and Treatments

The next Health Sciences Lecture Series will take place in the EACPHS Auditorium on Wednesday, June 3, at two times: 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. The topic is "Trauma: Understanding the Causes and Symptoms of Trauma and How to Address It as Professionals Working with a Variety of Patients and Clients."

Panelists include:

  • Patricia (Patti) Dixon, MSW, ACSW, a member of WSU's Counseling and Psychological Services' clinical staff;
  • Molly Gabriel, MA, a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Detroit Mercy and a Health Psychology Intern at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center
  • Doug Howell, PA-C, a faculty member in the Physician Assistant Studies program who served in the Vietnam War and authored a book on the transition from post war years, living with PTSD and how the return trips to Vietnam affected him; and
  • Christine Rabinak, an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice who has a strong record of research in the area of neurosciences and post-traumatic stress.
