Morgan Mrowca and Caroline Simko to represent WSU in state and national ASHP Clinical Skills Competition

On Oct. 18, 2023, the Wayne State Doctor of Pharmacy program held its annual clinical skills competition.

The top-scoring team of Caroline Simko and Morgan Mrowca will represent WSU Applebaum in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) National Clinical Skills Competition in December, as well as the state competition on Oct. 28.

In addition to Simko and Mrowca, four other student teams competed:   

  • Mirna Eshaya and Sandi Nuzha
  • Lauren Danelle Lim and Linh Pham
  • Jackie Fleury and Victoria Espinoza
  • Shahad Zaytouna and Leena Ahsan

Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice Amber Lanae Martirosov serves as ASHP faculty advisor. Faculty judges included Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice Hannah Ferrari, Professor of Pharmacy Practice Mary Beth O’Connell and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice Michael Veve, all of whom provided thoughtful, diligent reviews of the written and oral presentations.

The Doctor of Pharmacy program at Wayne State University is a four-year curriculum in the heart of Detroit. Approximately 100 students are enrolled in each year of the program. WSU Applebaum information meetings for prospective students take place at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The application process for the Doctor of Pharmacy program begins each July.
