Pharmacy Warriors are self-care champs for second year

For the second consecutive year, a Wayne State pharmacy team became the Student Pharmacists Self-Care Champions at the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPS) Annual Convention and Exposition, Feb. 24 - 26, in Detroit.

The student team of fourth-year Maya Childers and second-year Matthew Duprey, Sarah Mahoney and Sarah Michienzi beat out teams from the University of Michigan and Ferris State University.

Sponsored by the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) and the Nonprescription Medicines Academy (NMA), the event is a head-to-head competition similar to a quiz bowl. Student teams from colleges, universities and schools of pharmacy answer questions developed by the NMA.

The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, one of the founding colleges of Wayne State University, is committed to advancing the health and well-being of society through the preparation of highly skilled health care practitioners, and through research to improve health care practices and treatment from urban to global levels.

Wayne State University is a premier urban research institution offering more than 400 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to nearly 32,000 students.
