Radiologic Assistant Studies program accredited
The American Registry of Radiologists Technologists (ARRT) has awarded initial recognition to the Radiologic Assistant Studies (RAS) program at Wayne State University (WSU).
The recognition means that graduates of the Wayne State Radiologist Assistant Studies program will have met the educational eligibility requirement for certification as Registered Radiologist Assistants. In 2015, ARRT will review the RAS program for an extension of up to five years.
Under the direction of Kathy Kath, MS, the RAS program is a joint training program between Wayne State and Henry Ford Hospital. The WSU Board of Governors approved the master of science in radiologic assistant studies in winter 2008. The program admitted its first student in 2010.
It is one of 12 programs recognized nationally by the ARRT. The RAS program is within the Eugene College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. To receive recognition, the RAS program must meet recognition criterion which includes accreditation, clinical education, and preceptorship requirements.
The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, one of the founding colleges of Wayne State University, is committed to advancing the health and well-being of society through the preparation of highly skilled health care practitioners, and through research to improve health care practices and treatment from urban to global levels.
