Wayne State President M. Roy Wilson and Provost Keith E. Whitfield are hosting a discussion about university's search for a Vice President for Health Affairs/Dean of the School of Medicine on Thursday, June 20, at 5:30 p.m. in the Blue Lecture Hall on the third floor of Scott Hall. Faculty, students and staff of the School of Medicine, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the College of Nursing are encouraged to attend.

As Vice President for Health Affairs, the chosen candidate will report to the President and serve as a senior leader for Wayne State's health affairs-related initiatives, including responsibility for clinical affairs within the College of Nursing and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The deans in the College of Nursing and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences report to the Provost for academic affairs and to the Vice President for Health Affairs for clinical affairs.

Among the position's objectives are to:

Work collaboratively with the deans of the College of Nursing and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to a) integrate and align clinical care and education opportunities in partnership with health care provider networks, b) develop and implement interprofessional programs for education and professional development and c) foster intercollegiate research efforts.

Champion collaboration among the constituent components of Wayne State University, including the health science schools and colleges, the hospitals and the systems' outpatient faculty practices regarding clinical resource allocation decisions.

Work closely with the senior leadership team of primary affiliated health care provider networks to establish productive partnerships that align with and nurture our mission as an academic health sciences center.

Collaborate with the Deans of the College of Nursing and Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to integrate contemporary, multidisciplinary clinical education in order to provide excellent clinical programs for a diverse student population.
