Key faculty members from both sides of the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences were honored during the university's 2024 Academic Recognition Ceremony on April 25.

Professor of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences Moh Malek received the Charles H. Gershenson Distinguished Faculty Fellowship, becoming the first faculty member in the Department of Health Care Sciences to earn this prestigious recognition.

Distinguished Faculty Fellowships recognize and provide support for members of the faculty whose achievements and current activities in scholarship, research, or artistic performance and creativity continue to hold national distinction. With nominees submitted by deans, up to four such fellowships are available each year — two Charles Gershenson Fellowships and two Board of Governors Fellowships.

The academy also works to encourage policies at the university, local, state and national levels that support teachers and promote and reward effective teaching. Up to five new members are selected each year from nominees who have had a significant impact on the WSU undergraduate learning experience, practice innovative pedagogy and demonstrate instructional excellence.

“I am incredibly proud of Moh, Zhengping, Joe and MaryAnne for their academic, community and student success efforts,” said WSU Applebaum Dean Brian Cummings. “Within the college, it’s clear that they all are going above and beyond every day, and it’s gratifying to see their excellence recognized by the university.”
